Empowering Energy Management: Five Southern Sumatra Provinces Unite to Boost Energy Management in Government Buildings
Palembang – In order to support increasing capacity for implementing energy efficiency and conservation in regional and central government agency buildings, the Directorate of Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) together with the Institute for Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Management (IREEM) for the MENTARI program Energy Efficiency, providing Technical Guidance (bimtek) on the Implementation of Government Building Energy Management in the Southern Sumatra Region.
This technical guidance was held for four days from 13 to 16 June. More than 40 agencies from the Ministries of South Sumatra Province, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung Islands and Lampung Province took part in this training with a percentage of 35% of female participants taking this technical guidance and 65% of men.
Head of the Energy Division of the South Sumatra Province ESDM service, Mr. Aryansyah, hopes that carrying out this activity can boost energy performance. "Through this technical guidance, it is hoped that the knowledge and abilities of the participants will increase so that energy savings are carried out in a planned, integrated and sustainable manner so as to provide a multi-faceted effect on operational cost savings for government buildings and energy savings."
Mr. Aryansyah hopes that with this technical guidance, all participants from the Southern Sumatra province can play an active role in energy management activities in government infrastructure, so that in time they can play an active role in the Subroto Award in the field of Energy Efficiency.
On the same occasion, Program Manager for British Embassy Jakarta, Mr. Yoel Priatama, explained that the UK-PACT MENTARI Energy Efficiency Program is a concrete form of effort from the British Government to support Indonesia in reducing GHG emissions.
"This training aims to increase our capacity and understanding in increasing efficiency, especially in the scope of government buildings." Mr. Yoel further expressed his hope that this technical guidance could be the first step to increase the reduction of energy consumption in government buildings in the Southern Sumatra region.
