The energy sector remains one of the least gender-diverse sectors. At the household level, women play a key role in decisions on energy use, but they are under-represented in decision-making and professional involvement in the sector. Therefore, IREEM – UK Mentari EE (Menuju Transisi Energi Rendah Karbon Indonesia Efisiensi Energi) project is committed to advancing women's participation and leadership in the energy efficiency workforce.
Inclusion of gender in IREEM – UK Mentari EE activities will provide equal opportunity, equal access and control of resources and information, and equal decision-making power for men and women. The project takes into consideration the different impacts of its activities on men and women. Ultimately, the project aims to contribute to increasing recognition of the role and contribution that women make in the energy sector.
