Optimization of Conservation and Energy Efficiency Efforts in Supporting Achievement of Indonesia's Net Zero Emissions 2060

Indonesia has targeted to achieve net zero emissions (Net Zero Emissions) in 2060. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has issued a Long Term Strategy (LTS) for Low Carbon and Climate Resilience (LCCR) 2050 which places an emphasis on the development of renewable energy and energy conservation/efficiency. Meanwhile, in the energy sector's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target, where emission reductions reach 314 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030, from energy efficiency it is targeted to reach 41.76 million tonnes of CO2e and from RE development of 183.6 million tonnes of CO2e, energy net 74 million tonnes of CO2e, fuel switching 9.59 million tonnes of CO2e and AFOLU 5 million tonnes of CO2e.In general, energy conservation potential in the household sector is around 15-30%, commercial buildings 10-30%, transport 15-35%, industrial sector 10-30% and others 25%.

In achieving the NDC target, the energy efficiency program is targeted to come from commercial consumers (165 ktoe electricity savings), households (2,245 ktoe electricity savings), industry (3,302 ktoe coal, 586 ktoe fuel) and transportation (6,395 ktoe fuel). To achieve this target, several challenges are faced, including awareness of energy users who are still not optimal in implementing energy conservation and efficiency efforts, implementation of regulations that are not yet optimal and also the need for a budget in implementing energy conservation and efficiency efforts. In order to discuss prospects and challenges as well as breakthrough efforts in optimizing the application of energy conservation/efficiency in various sectors, the Institute for Natural Resources,
