Capacity Building Supports the Implementation of Energy Management in the Building Sector

South Tangerang, 27–29 August 2025 —— The Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), together with the Institute for Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Management (IREEM), with the support of the UK PACT (United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transition) Phase 2 program, organized a Capacity Building on Building Energy Management for the building sector.

The event, held at Trembesi Hotel BSD, South Tangerang, was attended by 45 participants, 7 women and 38 men from both government and commercial buildings. This capacity building was conducted as part of efforts to support climate change mitigation through improved energy efficiency, while also promoting the implementation of Government Regulation No. 33/2023 on Energy Conservation and Ministerial Regulation of ESDM No. 8/2025 on Energy Management, which mandate that energy users in the building sector consuming more than 500 TOE per year must implement energy management.

The activity featured experts from the Indonesian Association of Energy Conservation Experts (HAKE), namely Mr. Titovianto Widiantoro and Mr. Parlindungan Marpaung, and was further supported by the Energy Conservation Team of EBTKE and IREEM.

Throughout the program, participants received materials on regulatory deepening, technical training for preparing energy management reports, identification of significant energy use, introduction to energy audits, and climate change aspects for energy managers.

Participants also carried out energy management reporting through the Online Energy Management Reporting Application (POME). As a result, out of the 35 buildings participating in the capacity building, 20 buildings successfully submitted their energy management reports through the application.

Through this activity, it is expected that managers of government and commercial buildings can implement sustainable energy management, thereby contributing to achieving the national emission reduction targets in line with the Enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions (ENDC) 2022.
