Kolaborasi Kementerian ESDM dan UK PACT: Peningkatan Kompetensi Pengukuran dan Verifikasi (M&V) Kinerja Energi
South Tangerang, October 15, 2024 – The Directorate of Energy Conservation, Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), in collaboration with the British Embassy in Jakarta through the UK PACT MENTARI Energy Efficiency program, organized a training and Training of Trainers (ToT) on Measurement and Verification (M&V) of Energy Performance. This event, conducted by the Institute for Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Management (IREEM), supports the implementation of Government Regulation No. 33 of 2023 on Energy Conservation. The benefits of M&V for energy performance include enhancing measurement credibility and reliability, enabling accurate energy savings assessments, mitigating risks for ESCOs and investors, and promoting sustainable business practices.
The event took place from October 15 to 18, 2024, with the ToT session held specifically on October 18. A total of 61 participants attended, including representatives from ministries, professional certification bodies (LSP) in energy conservation, educational and training institutions, universities, private companies, and energy service companies (ESCOs). Among the participants, there were 10 women and 51 men, while the ToT included 31 participants (4 women and 27 men).
The training aims to enhance participants' abilities in planning, measuring, collecting, and analyzing energy performance data to verify and report energy savings in buildings and industries. The training modules were designed based on national standards (SKKNI 223 of 2020) and international standards, including ISO 50001:2018 and the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
The Director of Energy Conservation, Hendra Iswahyudi, stated, “The measurement and verification mechanism is a crucial step to improve energy efficiency and support the implementation of Government Regulation No. 33 of 2023 on Energy Conservation.” He expressed hope that this training would produce competent instructors capable of disseminating knowledge and skills to other stakeholders.
In a concurrent address, Yoel Priatama, Programme Manager for the British Embassy in Jakarta, explained that UK PACT is a strategic initiative from the British Government that partners with other nations to accelerate climate transition. “The support from the Indonesian government through this program affirms a shared commitment to the global effort in reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” he added.
Arief Yunan, Executive Director of IREEM, affirmed, “IREEM, together with the Directorate of Energy Conservation, Ministry of ESDM, has developed the M&V energy performance training modules based on national and international standards. This program is expected to enhance the competencies of verifiers and M&V trainers in Indonesia.”
It is anticipated that this training will produce skilled trainers and practitioners in energy performance measurement and verification. This initiative will support broader and more efficient energy conservation efforts and foster greenhouse gas emission reductions in Indonesia, aligning with global efforts to double GHG reduction targets through improved energy efficiency
